Actinic Granuloma vs. Porokeratosis
Similarities:
- Both conditions are triggered by chronic sun exposure and can appear in older individuals.
- They involve lesions on sun-exposed skin, such as the arms and face.
- Sunscreen and protective clothing are critical in managing both conditions.
Differences:
- Actinic Granuloma forms red or brown ring-shaped lesions, often on the arms or neck, and is thought to be an inflammatory reaction to sun damage.
- Porokeratosis causes small, raised patches with a ridge-like border, and while benign, some forms can increase the risk of skin cancer.
- Actinic granuloma can be treated with steroids or anti-inflammatory drugs, while porokeratosis may require cryotherapy or laser treatment.
