Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) vs. Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC)
Similarities:
- Both are forms of skin cancer caused by chronic sun exposure and occur most often in sun-exposed areas, like the face, neck, and hands.
- They are more common in older adults and people with fair skin.
- Both require early detection and medical treatment to prevent further spread.
Differences:
- Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) is the most common form of skin cancer and tends to grow slowly. It rarely spreads to other parts of the body but can cause significant local damage.
- Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) grows faster than BCC and is more likely to spread to other parts of the body if left untreated.
- BCC often appears as a pearly bump, while SCC presents as a scaly or crusted lesion.
